Charlie Forster Wins one of Hampshire Golf’s Most Prestigious Award

The Hampshire Golf AGM, held recently at Basingstoke Golf Club, saw one of the county’s rising stars, Charlie Forster, recognised for an outstanding year of achievements on the national and international stage. For his remarkable performances throughout 2024, Charlie was awarded the John Nettell Achievement Award—Hampshire Golf’s most prestigious individual honour.

The award, named in memory of John Nettell, recognises exceptional golfing accomplishments, and Charlie’s 2024 season was nothing short of remarkable. Some of his standout achievements include:

Representing Great Britain & Ireland in the St Andrews Trophy, a prestigious biennial team event against the Continent of Europe.

Becoming only the second Hampshire player in history to compete in the Bonallack Trophy, an elite contest between Europe and Asia’s top amateurs.

Playing a pivotal role in Hampshire’s success, helping the county win the South East League title.

Showcasing his talent on some of the biggest amateur stages, including reaching the last 16 of the British Amateur Championship.

Finishing in the top 10 of the Scottish Amateur Championship and securing a top-20 finish in the European Amateur Championship, cementing his reputation as one of the country’s leading young players.

Charlie was unable to attend the AGM due to his commitments at College in the U.S, but his father, Lance Forster, was on hand to accept the award on his behalf.

With a year of exceptional performances behind him and bigger opportunities ahead, Charlie’s achievements continue to inspire the next generation of Hampshire golfers. We look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next and will do all we can to support him in his campaign to reach the 2025 Walker Cup Team.
