Hampshire Narrowly Miss Out in Thrilling Challenge League Final

Hampshire Golf reached the Challenge League Final for the third successive year but were narrowly beaten by a strong Essex side in a nail-biting contest that came down to the very last putt.
After a competitive morning session, Hampshire trailed 2.5–1.5 following the foursomes but battled back superbly in the afternoon singles with wins from 3 of the first 4 matches. The match remained on a knife edge after that, with Essex rallying a response in the back half of the draw.
In the end, the title was decided on the final green of the final match, where Essex edged out Hampshire by the narrowest of margins as our opponent holed a 5 foot putt for par which was good enough to take the title.
Despite the defeat, Hampshire can take great pride in another impressive campaign, going unbeaten in the league stage before reaching the final for the third consecutive year and once again demonstrating the depth and spirit of the squad.
